Hollow foot (pes cavus) / splay foot (pes transversoplanus)

Hollow foot (pes cavus) / splay foot (pes transversoplanus) The problem with hollow foot or pes cavus is that the foot stands and walks on only a relatively small area. This results in significantly high pressure peaks on the sole, especially in the forefoot area. The condition is further exacerbated by the fact that lack of sufficient support area causes the foot to "wobble” during the gait cycle, i.e. due to ankle instability. In adults, there is little that can be changed in terms of the foot’s shape. However, muscular stability in the ankle joints can be improved with the help of PROPRIO® foot orthoses. The foot orthoses are padded at the places where significantly high pressure is exerted.
