Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis MS is an inflammation occurring in the brain — and, partly, also in the spinal cord — caused by an attack of the body's own defense cells on the protective myelin sheaths surrounding nerve fibers. The destruction of these myelin sheaths and the swelling caused by inflammation lead to a reduction in the conductivity of the nerve cells. In many cases, symptoms such as numbness in the arms and legs, a feeling of tension around the joints, pain and occasionally also reduced sensitivity can occur. As a result of this condition, MS sufferers develop a very uncertain gait pattern. PROPRIO® foot orthoses can help MS sufferers achieve greater foot stability and a subjective improvement in gait certainty.
