Trisomy 21

Trisomy 21 is a gene variant that can lead to limitations in terms of physical and mental development. It is impossible to predict how children with this disorder will develop. The possibilities range from those who will become largely independent as adults to those who will depend on the help of others for a lifetime. Most patients with trisomy 21 share the common trait that they have very limp feet with weak connective tissue, causing pathological loading to the axes of the body during movement. With a little patience applied to their care, these patients will react very effectively to stimulation with PROPRIO® foot orthoses. The muscles of their feet can usually be stabilized quite well. It must be noted that the effect is sometimes not noticeable until several months of wear.
